What We Believe

About God

There is one God, the Father (1 Cor. 8:6), the one God of the creed of Israel, affirmed by Jesus Christ (Mark 12:28).  The Father is "the only true God" (John 17:3).  We are called to love Him with everything that we are (Deut. 6:5; Mark 12:30).  He is the Creator of everything (Gen 1), and has invited his people into a covenant relationship with Himself (Ex. 19:5-6; Jer. 31:33).

About Jesus

There is one lord Messiah, Jesus (1 Cor. 8:6), who first came into existence as the Son of God by a miracle of God's holy spirit on the womb of a woman (Luke 1:35).  He was foreordained from the foundation of the world (1 Peter 1:20), and is the Messiah, the Savior of the whole world (John 3:17).  Jesus is the only way to the Father (John 14:6), and the only way to immortality in the Kingdom of God (Acts 4:12).

About the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is the personal presence and power of God extended through the risen Christ to believers (Psalm 51:11).  This Spirit empowers believers to live out faithful lives (Gal. 5:22-24) and to actively participate in showing the world God's glory through various gifts (1 Cor. 12:4-11).

About the Bible

The Bible, consisting of the Hebrew canon (Luke 24:44) and the Greek New Testament Scriptures, is the inspired Word and authoritative revelation of God (2 Tim. 3:16).  Since we are commanded to obey Jesus (Matt. 7:24-26; John 14:23-34; Hebrews 5:9), we rely on the Bible to give us instructions about his teachings.

About the Kingdom of God

In the future visible return of Jesus Christ to raise to life the faithful dead (1 Cor. 15:23), establish the millennial Kingdom on earth (Rev. 20:1-6) and bring about the restoration of the earth promised by the prophets (Act 1:6, 3:21, 26:6-7).  There is regenerating power of the Gospel message about the Kingdom (Matt. 13:9; Luke 8:12; John 6:63), enabling the believer to understand divine revelation and live a life of holiness.  Jesus' main message that he preached during his ministry was about this coming Kingdom (Luke 4:43) and what we need to do to enter into it.

About Baptism

In baptism by immersion upon reception of the Gospel of the Kingdom and the things concerning Jesus (Acts 8:12; Luke 24:27).  This is a matter of obedience to Jesus and follows the example of the apostles and the New Testament Church.

About the Cross and Beyond

In the atoning, substitutionary death of Jesus.  It is through Jesus' death on the cross that our sins can be redeemed and forgiven (John 1:29; Rom. 3:21-25).  Because of his death on that cross, we can now be justified before God (Rom. 4:23-24) and can confidently approach God's throne (Heb. 4:14-16).  He arose from the dead on the third day and ascended to the right hand of the Father (Psalm 110:1; Acts 2:34-36), where he is waiting until his enemies are subdued (Heb. 10:13).

About the Resurrection

In the future resurrection of the saved of all the ages to administer the renewed earth with the Messiah in the Kingdom of God (1 Cor 6:2; 2 Tim. 2:12; Rev. 2:26, 3:21, 5:10).  Those who have died are currently "asleep" in the dust of the ground (Dan. 12:2; John 11:11-14; Acts 7:60; 1 Cor 12:20, 51; 1 Thess. 4:13-15; 2 Peter 3:4) and awaiting the resurrection to come at Jesus' return.
